Two questions your reviewers will ask.
Patient data never leaves the device
A detector runs on the phone, before anything is sent, and stops a question that appears to contain a patient identifier — names in clinical context, medical record numbers, dates of birth. The provider is shown what was caught and rewrites it. Nothing is transmitted until it is clean.
It is a reasonable-effort filter, not a compliance guarantee, and the app says so. The point is the architecture underneath it: Helix does not process PHI at all, which is why there is no BAA to negotiate and no patient data in scope for your review. Conversation history stays on the provider's phone.
Helix is a clinician-facing reference tool — not a covered entity, not a business associate, and not a medical device.
The AI answers from our own vetted content
Ask Helix searches the app's own library first — every drug entry, block, surgical case, crisis checklist and glossary term, indexed as more than 1,700 passages, over 1,500 of which carry a named source. Answers cite the passage they came from, and each citation opens the exact screen it quotes, so a claim can be checked in two taps.
And it tells you when it is not. Any statement not drawn from that library is labeled general clinical knowledge rather than being presented with the same confidence. That verdict is computed on the server, not by the app, so it cannot be dressed up on the way to the screen. A clinician can always tell which sentences are backed by cited content and which are not.
